Terms of Service
The rules of the road for using cort.land.
These terms govern your use of this website. If we are working together on a paid engagement, the contract you signed with us governs that relationship, not this page.
Last updated April 20, 2026.
Who you are agreeing with
“Cortland,” “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Cortland LLC, a Texas limited liability company based in Houston. “You” means anyone visiting or interacting with cort.land.
What this site is
cort.land is how we describe what Cortland does, share writing on industrial AI, collect inbound inquiries, and give existing clients access to their engagement workspace. It is marketing material, an intake surface, and a client-portal entry point. It is not a contract and nothing on it constitutes a binding offer of services on specific terms.
Engagements are separate
Paid work with Cortland happens through a statement of work or master services agreement signed between Cortland LLC and the client. That signed agreement is what determines scope, price, payment terms, intellectual property ownership, warranties, confidentiality, limitations of liability, and termination for the engagement. Nothing on this site modifies, supplements, or supersedes a signed agreement.
Submitting the intake form, booking a discovery call, or taking the AI Readiness Assessment does not create a services relationship. It starts a conversation.
Acceptable use
You may browse the site, read our writing, subscribe to the newsletter, contact us, and sign in to your client workspace if you are a current client. You may not:
- Break, overload, or attempt to extract more from the site than normal browsing.
- Scrape content for redistribution, train models on it, or resell it. The writing here is for readers, not ingestion pipelines you do not own.
- Impersonate someone else when filling out a form or booking a call.
- Probe, scan, or test the site’s security without written permission.
We reserve the right to block access if any of the above happens.
Intellectual property
The content, design, and code on cort.landare owned by Cortland LLC or licensed to us, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may quote short excerpts with attribution and a link back. “Cortland,” “Cadence,” and “Kaysee” identify Cortland offerings and should be used accordingly.
Third-party trademarks that appear on the site (Anthropic, Claude, and client names we are authorized to mention) are the property of their respective owners.
Submissions you make
When you submit information through the intake form, the assessment, a newsletter signup, or any other form on the site, you grant us permission to use it for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you submit and for having the right to submit it.

The site links to third-party tools and services (Cal.com, LinkedIn, Kaysee.ai, Anthropic, and others). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices.
No warranty
We maintain this site in good faith but offer it as is. We do not warrant that the site will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the content is complete or current at any given moment. Writing on this site is general information and is not legal, financial, or engineering advice for your specific situation.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cortland LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of this site. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the site itself is limited to one hundred United States dollars (US$100). If we are working together under a signed agreement, that agreement’s liability terms apply to that engagement, not this cap.
Indemnification
If something you do on the site causes a third-party claim against Cortland, you agree to defend and indemnify us for the reasonable costs and damages that result from your conduct.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
